An Independent Country and Homeland to the Fierce Gurkhas

The famous warriors in the world, the world is widely known as the fierce fighters, are the Nepalese Gurkha soldiers. These brave soldiers have protected their motherland, and because of their contribution and sacrifices, Nepal has never celebrated Independence day as the country was never colonized. Impressed by their skills and courage, the Gurkhas were recruited in regiments within the army of the British East India Company. They fought in the First World War, Second World War, and the Anglo-Nepalese War using weapons such as Khukuri. Since then, from 1815, they have been an integral part of the British Army. The main motto of the Gurkhas has always remained "Better to die than be a coward".

The only country with a Non-Rectangular Flag

Nepal is the only country in the world with a non-rectangular flag. The flag consists of two triangular shapes stacked on to one another with a blue borderline. Where the blue colour is a symbol of peace, the crimson-red colour is the symbol of bravery and the representation of the national flower of the country, Rhododendron. The upper triangle of the flag emblems a moon, whereas the lower triangle emblems the sun. This flag's design has been in use for the past 2000 years.

Nepal is the only country with an altitudinal variation that ranges from 59 meters to 8848 meters. It is home to eight of the tallest ten mountain peaks in the world. Not to forget, the tallest peak Mount Everest is also located in Nepal, making the country inclusive of the highest point on Earth. Tilicho Lake, situated at an elevation of 4800 meters, makes it the highest lake in the world. The Shey Phoksundo Lake located at the height of 3600 meters is the deepest lake, as it is as deep as 145 meters. Kaligandaki is the deepest gorge in the world, being as deep as 1200 meters and the Arun valley, making it the highest valley in the world. Nepal has the only living Goddess in the world known as the Kumari. Kumari, in Nepali, literally means virgin and there are three living Kumaris in three main cities of the Kathmandu Valley. Nepal has over 80 ethnic groups and 123 languages. It portrays the harmony and unification among the people despite their different backgrounds. Nepal celebrates rich culture, traditions and festivals, and till date, there isn't a single case recorded arisen due to the clash between people and their religions.
